Healthy Living Challenge

Hey guys and gals, guess what time it is?

Blog challenge time!

That's right, I can't think of anything to blog about, so I'm relying on other people to tell me!

Well, actually, that's not totally true, but I really enjoy participating in the occasional blog challenge because it boosts my readership and alleviates some of the pressure to come up with multiple post ideas each week. I will admit, the Blog Every Day in May challenge was exhausting, so I elected to pick a blog challenge that encouraged bloggers to post just a few times a week, not every single flippin' day.

Since I'm in the throes of half marathon training (seriously, the race is only 5 weeks away!), I'm going to take on Janice at The Fitness Cheerleader's March Healthy Living challenge. Spending the next month focusing on fitness and health seems appropriate as I train for these 13.1 ├╝ber hilly miles.

Challenge #1: Today is National I Want You to be Happy Day
– What brings happiness to your life?

Okay, so National I Want You to be Happy Day was actually yesterday, but whatever.

I've participated in other blog challenges that have asked me to pen my happiness, and I'm doing everything in my power to keep from launching into a rousing rendition of "My Favorite Things", but I'm trying to take this seriously.

What brings happiness to my life?

This is obvious and easy, but it doesn't make it any less true:

My husband.

Everything that I do or everything that happens to me is automatically 1,000 times sweeter simply because I get to experience it with Clayton. Last night we spent 20 minutes in the hallway doing impressions of each other until I was laughing so hard, I thought I was for sure going to pee my pants. And when you can say that you come dangerously close to peeing your pants most days, you have a pretty damn good life.

Other things that bring my immense amounts of joy and happiness:

When I laugh with my mom and sister
Joey coming into our room every morning and stretching next to the bed, letting me know he's awake
Eating really, really good food (like really, REALLY good)
The feeling of satisfaction after a long, hard run
Whiskey and Diet Coke
Getting swept away in a book
Travel (They're mostly unhygienic and gross, but I love staying in hotels.)
Talking to someone who just "gets" me
Scrambled eggs and bacon on Sunday mornings
Rainy weekends
Strangers who smile and greet you for no reason other than we're both sharing the human experience
Ron Swanson
The frosting on a cupcake
New running shoes
Making my first house a home
Tanned legs
Summer twilight (this has nothing to do with vampires)

  1. This sounds very cool, need some blog inspiration at the mo so may have to have a week look at it :)

  2. You are the sweetest, funniest, and the happiest person I've ever known. A totally awesome real person

  3. Great post Courtney! I'm looking forward to getting to know you better through the challenge & writing prompts.
