The Autumn Tag

I took this picture during a photography class in college. *takes a bow*

This weekend I did a Google search for "yellow nail polish" (I'm not sure why. I mean, yellow is kind of a spring color, but whatever.) and found myself on a cute beauty blog with a recent post called "Autumn Tag". I have no idea who this blogger is (but that's what I love about the blogging world: You can make connections with people all over the world), she doesn't know me and she certainly didn't tag me in this post, but it looked like fun and I wanted to participate! (AKA, I have nothing to write about today.)

So pull on your fuzzy slippers, grab a warm cup of apple cider and enjoy!

1. Favorite thing about Autumn?
Picking my favorite thing about fall is really hard; it's like trying to pick your favorite muscle in Channing Tatum's abs (impossible). The weather is amazing, the color palette of its foliage cannot be beat, pumpkin spice and apple cider run rampant, jack-o-lanterns illuminate porches with zest, harvest moons are simply breathtaking, and hello! Halloween! Fall always feels exciting, like the crisp air is a omen of magical things to come.

2. Favorite drink?
Apple cider! Starbuck's Carmel Apple Spice is my absolute favorite holiday drink! And when we want to save money, Clayton and I like to buy a jug of cold cider and warm it over the stove before garnishing it with a pinch of cinnamon and stirring a mug with an actual cinnamon stick.

3. Favorite scent/candle?
Long-time readers of this blog are well aware of my love affair with Yankee Candle's Pumpkin Pie scent. In fact, any of their variations on pumpkin will do (i.e.e Pumpkin Buttercream, Apple Pumpkin, ect.) Though Clayton doesn't love it quite as much as I do, I also like to stock up on their Macintosh Apple or Salted Carmel candle for the cooler months. Anything food related, really. Tis' the season for widespread gluttony!

4. Best lipstick?
I find it slightly odd that someone would have a season-specific lipstick. I keep my lip shades really neutral and can wear them year round, regardless of how tan or horribly pale I might be. And let's be honest, I only wear lipstick if I'm going somewhere fancy ... like the prom.

5. Go-to moisturizer?
My face gets uber dry the fall and winter, so I start taking extra precautions to keep my skin moisturized as early as August. My go-to moisturizer is Neutrogena's Oil-Free Moisturizer for with SPF 35, and I wear it every day with or without make-up. My skin frequently bounces between desert dry and total grease ball, so oil-free is always a good choice for me. I also like this particular moisturizer because it protects against UVA and UVB rays.

6. Go-to colors for the eyes?
I choose my eye make-up based on my skin tone and eye color, not by season, so my color choices don't vary too much between the warm and cold months. My brown eyes are a good match for brown, mauve and taupe shades. Chocolate brown is my favorite color for a smokey eye, but I keep my eye make-up pretty low-key most days since "sex pot" isn't a super professional look. However, there are a few nail polish shades I save for the colder months: Anything in a wine shade, dark navys, or metals. I actually really like black nail polish in the fall because it matches my soul looks so chic!

7. Favorite music or band/singer to listen to?
I've already worked out to Christmas music and it's barely October.

8. Favorite outfit to wear?
Boots. Boots. Boots! Oh my gosh, BOOTS. This season I have so many boot choices, it's a bit absurd. Any outfit is fall-ready with a pair of leather riding boots (what I ride, I do not know) and you'll see me rocking my short American Eagle fuzzy boots every weekend (much to my husband's fuzzy-boot-hatin' dismay). My favorite fall look? A long, chunky sweater (that covers your entire rear-end) with leggings or skinny jeans and tall boots.

9. Autumn treat?
Caramel apples with nuts. I could subsist on caramel apples from September through December. One of the food vendors at the Greenwood, IN mall sells giant gourmet caramel apples with toppings like Oreos, coconut and any other decadent candy you can imagine!

10. Favorite place to be?
You can't beat Little Nashville in the fall. Clay and I had plans of getting married in one of their picturesque white chapels, but the cost of the church was a bit overwhelming (paying to use the Lord's house never made sense to me). Clay and I make the scenic drive to the charming shops and eateries every year and almost always take a picture at our favorite spot.

2010? I think that's right.
2007. Holy cow, that was SIX YEARS AGO.

And Happy Harvest! (I say that like we're all a bunch of farmers living off the land ...)
