Courtney Confessions

1.) If I had extra disposable income, the first thing I'd spend it on would be weekly manicures and pedicures. I love having my nails painted because it makes me feel more put together, but I don't have the patience or the steady hand necessary to get the job done right. Many of my friends and family members always seem to be sporting gorgeously manicured nails in bright, glossy colors, but mine usually look like a toddler painted them while riding in the back of a city bus.

2.) Marriage is all about give and take, but I finally found the one thing I'm not willing to compromise on: my bathroom. I don't make any decisions about home decor without Clayton's input. It seriously took us MONTHS to come to an agreement on bedding because we couldn't seem to find a set that struck the perfect balance between masculine and feminine. I love my husband and I love making our home reflect our life together, but sometimes I really miss having free rein to be inexplicably girly. Since Clayton only uses the upstairs bathroom to shower, he's more or less let me do whatever I want with it. This past weekend I picked out a few decor items (including a pretty ceramic bird towel rack) and now I feel like I finally have my little Courtney space.

3.) I've never seen any of the Star Wars movies. I don't know if that makes me the most uncool person on the planet, but I haven't seen the originals, the prequels and I most likely will not see Disney reboot. I feel the same way about George Lucas as I feel about doing hard drugs: I can appreciate what it can do for others, but it does nothing for me specifically.

4.) I'm freakin' passionate about fast-pitch softball. Last night Maria and I coached the Thunder in their first softball game of the season and, as to be expected, none of the girls were too keen on playing the position of catcher. However, after telling them that the catcher sees the most action and that the catcher's equipment makes you look like a robot, ALL of the girls wanted to try it. I spent a few minutes telling one of the little girls all about how much fun I had playing catcher in fast-pitch softball when I was a teenager and I got so excited talking about it, I think I freaked her out a little bit.

And here's a retro picture from my travel softball league days back when I was in 8th grade and still bouncing between third base and catcher:

That girl was totally out.

Do you have anything you'd like to confess today?

  1. I've never seen Star Wars either! Any of them! Someone tried to get me to watch them once in college, and I fell asleep within about 10 minutes.

    1. I just don't get the appeal. I'll take Lord of the Rings over this kind of thing ANY day! :)

  2. Ditto on the Star Wars. However, I also don't get the appeal of Lord of the Rings. Sorry :/

    1. Hey, no judgement! I think I might be one of 2 people on the planet that hasn't read or seen the Harry Potter movies.

  3. I've never seen Star Wars either! And I totally could have written #3; Ian and I use separate bathrooms too and I finally feel like I have my own space that I can do whatever I want with! I am usually the go-to person when it comes to decorating anyway, but we do typically make decisions together and I definitely understand sometimes missing having your own place sometimes!!
