Juice box

I'm not sure if you know this or not, but I am married to a pretty thoughtful guy.

I might have even mentioned him once or twice on this blog.

Yesterday I had a pretty rough morning at work and I vented my feelings to Clayton via our daily email conversation. He asked if there was anything he could do to help me feel better and, trying to sound extra pathetic and adorable, I said, "I think I just need a juice box and a hug."

I was joking, obviously. Requesting a juice box has always been my way of trying to sound as small and vulnerable as possible. Clayton proceeded to cheer me up by offering helpful advice, lovely words of encouragement, and sending me silly quotes from our favorite stand-up comedians.

When I came home from work several hours later, I walked through the front door and found a solitary Capri Sun sitting on our dining room table.

He brought me a juice box.

And when I walked into the kitchen to thank him, he gave me a hug.

Husbandly WIN.

Who is your support system when you're having a crummy day? How do YOU like to cheer up YOUR loved one when they're having a bad day?

  1. My Justin is one of my biggest supporters, right up there with my momma. Emeli Sande's song "Next to Me" makes me thing of Justin:

    - When the skies are grey and all the doors are closing
    - and the rising pressure makes it hard to breathe
    - well, all I need is a hand to stop the tears from falling
    - I will find him, will find him next to me

  2. how awesome it is when they do those small things that make all the difference!
