Courtney Confessions

Before I dive into today's confessions, I totally forgot to show you all the neat-o gift my mom surprised me with this weekend! (She's so thoughtful!)

Isn't it cute!? His name is Peeps.

And speaking of owls, my mom was at Pier 1 Imports the other day and couldn't resist grabbing an ambrosial set of owl wall decals that just so happens to perfectly match my living room (I think my love affair with hooty hoots is starting to borderline on obsessive). I entertained myself for a solid 20 minutes creating this "owl mural" on my wall last night and despite my lack of patience and inability to make straight lines and shapes, it actually turned out really, really well!

I apologize for the horrible lighting.
Our living room light source is one lamp in the corner and our Christmas tree.

Now on to the matter at hand ...

1. When I'm bored at work (which is never if my boss is reading this), sometimes I Google reviews of products I already own just because I'm curious if other people like them as much as I do. And if there's an overwhelming negative opinion of a product I love, I take it personally and get all huffy.

2. I like the nutcrackers people use to decorate their houses around the holidays, but I hate multiple nutcrackers. One nutcracker is fine, but more than one is just creepy to me for some reason. I actually had a dream once that I was walking along a beach and thousands of tiny nutcrackers started coming up out of the sand like crabs, their wooden jaws flapping up and down furiously and their tufts of white hair blowing in the ocean breeze. Perhaps that's why I find them creepy.

3. Clayton wraps Christmas presents better than me and it's really annoying because he KNOWS he does. Our household very much operates under an "Anything you can do, I can do better" mentality.

4. My nose gets overwhelmed by scent very quickly and wearing too much perfume or cologne is actually a huge pet peeve of mine. I'm not saying I've never been guilty of committing this crime myself, especially when I first started wearing Bath and Body Work's Plumeria body spray in seventh grade ("Wait, what do you mean you're not supposed to bath in it?"), but the other day a woman came into the office and her Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds was so strong I could taste it. I could TASTE IT.

5. My heart swelled about 1,000,000 times bigger when I saw how excited Clayton was for the theater release of Monsters, Inc. in 3D. A grown man occasionally allowing himself to get swept away in the whimsy of his childhood memories is adorable.

Do you have anything you'd like to confess today?

  1. Those owls came out really nice! I like them! I know what you mean about Nutcrackers too! Did you see the one Mom has now? It's three midget nutcrackers standing on top of each other to make one tall one. It's so cute!

  2. BAHAHA! I now want to search for reviews of products I love to see how I react.
Oh, and completely agree about the nutcrackers and the perfume.
