Birthday shout-outs

Today is a very, very special day! Not only does October bring an explosion of colorful leaves, pumpkin lattes and Halloween, it ushers in a whole slew of family birthdays. My oldest sister, Shannon, celebrated her 37th birthday last Wednesday, I got all of the attention on the 14th, yesterday was my late Uncle Walter's big day, and today marks the anniversary of the day Gayle Therese was brought into this big ol' world.

So I'd like to take this opportunity to wish my amazing mother the happiest of birthdays! I believe she turns 63 today, but that's completely irrelevant because everyone thinks she's still her in 40s (pass some of those anti-aging genes my way, please!). I love you, Mom.You're the most beautiful person I know, inside and out! You've had such an invaluable impact on the person I am today. And I'm awesome, so good job!

And I feel like it's also worth mentioning another leading lady in my life who is celebrating her birthday today, too. Exactly one year ago today you came into my life and gave it new meaning. I never knew how sweet cakes could be until I met you. You are the wind beneath my wings.

Happy first birthday, Mixie!

You have no idea how seriously I debated having a photoshoot
of Mixie and I cuddling in random places for this post.

Stay tuned for a birthday weekend recap later today or tomorrow (depending on how lazy I feel after work ... and if I can find my camera's USB cord). And brace yourselves because it's a doozy! A lucky, lucky girl I am!
