Sick and tired ... but mostly tired

I was ill today, so I regret to inform you that today's post isn't chock-full of the hard-hitting journalism and reflective prose of which Notably Neurotic readers have become accustomed. Sorry.

I did nothing today. Well, I made an ibuprofen and Tums cocktail and finished a book, but that's about it.

For the past few days my body has started to feel the ill-effects of over-training, and I think chronic fatigue mixed with the heat, PMS and emotional distress just got the best of me. My body finally rejected what I've been putting it through and simply quit on me.

And I should have known this was coming. I came home from work yesterday and took a small nap before meeting Mandy at the IU Outdoor track to work out with members of the Bloomington Area Runners Association, but I couldn't fall asleep. Every time I was about to nod off, my heart would start racing and I would jolt awake with feelings of panic. I knew something was off ... I should really learn to listen to my body more often.

It's been a long day, but it's amazing what several naps and sitting in a cool, dark townhouse can do for the mind, body and human spirit.

Assuming as is well, I will try and provide you with a meatier blog post tomorrow night. I hear it's expected to reach about 106 degrees tomorrow and there's a fire advisory in effect for the entire state. And I get to stand outside and play softball. Yippie!
