Are you saying you don't want to get with THIS?

I've had the same Valentine for the last seven years.  You know why? Because he's the BEST Valentine ever.

I remember our very first Valentine's Day together.  We had been dating for about 7 months, it was our senior year of high school, and Clayton was driving up to Warsaw to spend the weekend with me.  When he arrived, I fed him baked salmon with steamed broccoli (I was still trying to impress him. "See how well I cook? I'd make an excellent wife! Mom, bring out the dowry!"), and he brought me a beautiful diamond heart pendant necklace that I lost once, broke once, and had replaced twice.

Hey, seven years is a long time for me NOT to destroy something.

But I wore that necklace on our wedding day.

This year we decided not to exchange presents (since after buying me the pendant, a set of pearls, and an topaz ring, Clay, quite frankly, is out of jewelry), and instead opted to spend a quiet evening at home with a homemade dinner, flowers, and candy.

But I have no idea how that's going to go now because I am incredibly, incredibly sick. I went to bed early with a headache on Saturday night, but thought I was feeling better when I woke up the next morning. However, my headache started to come back during church and this time it brought nausea and dizziness.  I ended up spending the entire day on the couch and couldn't sleep last night because snot wouldn't stop pouring out of my nose.

I think I'm in sickness denial. Yesterday I refused to take any medicine and kept telling Clay that I would be better tomorrow (today).  I rarely get sick, so when I actually do start to feel under the weather, I get really irritable because being sick is a big waste of time.  But I was wrong.  I woke up feeling worse today than I did on Sunday. I can hardly swallow and I can't smell the beautiful bouquet of trumpet and calla lilies Clay brought home for me.

And I'm super mad because I had some romantic plans for us tonight.  But with the way things are going, our night is going to end up much more like this:
